Ian Barr

Financial Services Manager

Ian joined Walker Dunnett & Co in August 2010 as Financial Services Manager and Independent Financial Adviser based in the Carnoustie Office.

He was born in Glasgow but has lived in the Dundee area for over 20 years.

He started training to be a teacher but instead moved into career in Banking and Finance.

His career in financial services began in the Halifax Building Society in 1976, moving into management in the Woolwich Building Society 3 years later which entailed moving around Scotland in various roles over the next 21 years. A period managing the Independent Financial Advisory service with a local office of national stockbrokers then followed, and then latterly working locally with a major bank.

During this time Ian has gained the Diploma in Financial Services, an Honours Degree in Business Studies and is a Chartered Banker.

On a personal note Ian is married to Janice and has 3 children; Kirsty, Louise and Craig, the family has grown with the addition of sons-in-law Matt and Terry, Daughter-in-law Angie, and grandsons Ethan and Roman, and granddaughters Caitlin, Mila and Fern. His hobbies include playing football (even now) having signed for Queens Park in the mid 70's, tennis and walking. He also enjoys holidays around the world and spending time with his extended family.
