Danie van Niekerk

Partner

Danie decided that the accountancy profession was for him after being taught for many years by his father who was an accountancy teacher. Danie did most of his under graduate studies in South Africa and after working for a few large companies decided to come to the UK to see a bit more of the world.

Danie came to Scotland in January 2001 after a phone call asking if he wanted to come and play rugby for a local team.

Danie started with Walker Dunnett & Co. in December 2003 as an accounts assistant and qualified as a chartered certified accountant in 2007.  He moved to a supervisory role soon after and then became partner in May 2015. He gained further qualifications by becoming a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians.

Working with all types of owner managed businesses, predominantly in the Fife, Dundee, Angus and Perthshire Areas, he deals with all aspects of accounting and tax for a broad spectrum of clients. He also specialises in the advanced requirements within Corporation Tax and in business consulting and profit improvement.  Being the IT consultant for Walker Dunnett & Co. involves him supporting clients with technology to boost business performance.

Danie still plays the occasional rugby game, but also enjoys cycling, running and triathlons.  Danie hails from Cape Town, where he goes to visit family.  Danie is married to Lesley and has two children - Isla and Joe.
